Icicle hire equipment
Key links: Key Alpine Kit, Kit Advice, Gear Suppliers

Below is a list of all the equipment that course clients can hire for our Alpine trips. We work with several hire kit partner shops, so only offer these hugely preferential rates to course clients (we do not hire to anyone else). Hire equipment is allocated on a first come first served basis, but don't worry as our partners almost always have enough stock, and if not we can negotiate preferential rates in other stores on the very rare occasions it is necessary.
We provide all the technical ice or rock protection equipment, such as ropes, ice screws and cams, during the guided elements of your course. If you are extending your stay, or wish to climb in your free time, please bring your own equipment. Use of this is at your own risk. Don't degrade our opinion of you by asking to hire or borrow it.
Technical hire equipment partner
The majority of the technical hire equipment is provided by Grivel France, especially the stock of ice axes and crampons. Grivel was established in 1818 at the foot of Mont Blanc, and has been making industry leading equipment for nearly 200 years. We are proud to be partnered with Grivel, and this ensures that our hire kit is of the highest possible standard, in terms of providing you the best and safest products available.

Off Piste / Ski Touring Equipment
We work in partnership with a local hire specialist in off piste and touring skis, and all our clients get a significant discount on the equipment. Please e-mail us your requirements at least one month before your course, so we can reserve it for you, as there is no guarantee that you will be able to hire it upon arrival. Please supply us with your boot size, and prefered ski size.
Notes

1. Items are hired on a first come, first served basis only.
2. The equipment hired is exclusively for use on guided days.
3. Payment for hire equipment is in £ or € cash paid to the supplier on the day of hire.
4. There is no refund for use for individual days or parts of weeks.

5. Should you damage or lose any equipment, you are expected to replace the item(s) on a new for old basis.
6. Trekking poles are not hired as they are obligatory equipment for all our courses, or headtorches & clothing.
7.
Crampons are only rented to those with / hiring B3 boots. Please note that crampons are not hired to people with B2 boots such as Scarpa Mantas, as the flexible sole unit causes metal fatigue and potentially dangerous crampon failure. It is the decision of the staff as to the category of boots they deem you have.
