The Matterhorn is probably the most recognised mountain in the world, due to its unique triangular shape. Towering above the Swiss town of Zermatt, the mountain is fairly difficult to ascend by any route, and was one of the last Alpine 4000ers to be climbed. The classic route up the mountain is the Hörnli Aréte.
