Icicle bespoke guiding 2012
We provide Mountain Guides or International Mountain Leaders by the day, as well as running our wide range of scheduled courses in summer and winter. To meet our team of IFMGA & UIMLA guides, please click here. We were established in 2000, and are the only British company to have a full time logistics office in Chamonix Mont Blanc. Our office is next to the Aiguille du Midi cable car (click to visit office page). The winter runs from mid December to the end of April, and the summer season runs from mid June to late September. Sorry, no guiding is organised outside the seasons. We are a fully bonded and licenced tour operator.

The prices are for guiding only, and don't include your cable cars, uplift, hire kit, refuges, or any evening instruction. If you stay in a refuge, you are expected to pay for yourself and the guide on a half board basis, and pay for all transport and the guides lift pass if out of the Chamonix valley. We only accept one or two day bespoke bookings.

Note that for hard climbing or ski descents, the daily rate may be far more than the minimums listed above, and a sliding scale of charges applies. For example an ascent of the Whymper couloir on the Aiguille Verte would cost at least £600 per day. If ARVA avalanche beacons are required, these will be loaned free of charge during the guiding. The maximum guide ratio listed below is the total number of people that we allow a Guide to take for each activity. This is based on the safety advice of the IFMGA and UIMLA, and our imposed limits are to ensure that each member of the group has sufficient access to the guide, as well as for the obvious safety reasons.

For mountains of this stature, we consider that our week long courses are the best itineraries to allow for weather windows, acclimatisation, and summit success. We do NOT offer any tailor made alternatives for any of these peaks, as we are so sure our itineraries are correct. This isn't arrogance. It is a decision we have arrived at over a decade of running guided ascents of these peaks. We firmly believe that spending any less time than we offer on our scheduled courses is unsafe in terms of acclimatisation and your skills training. At best it will give you a very low chance of success, and at worst case it could be downright dangerous. Do not ask us for bespoke ascents of these peaks. We cannot assist.
