Course
overview |
 |
 |
 |
This
course is for those who have reached a ceiling
of their ice climbing, and want to be pushed
from Grade IV upwards. You climb up to Grade
V Alpine waterfall ice, during the week. |
 |
Recent
courses have climbed classic ice routes such
as Cold Couloir (Cogne), and Goulotte Cosmiques
(Midi). There are literally hundreds of ice
routes to chose from within an hour of Chamonix. |
 |
You
should have previous experience of seconding
Grade IV or V to get the most out of this
course. If you have specific plans for harder
routes, such as Repentence (VI), contact us
for a quote. |
 |
This
course is focused on waterfall ice climbs.
If you would like to attempt some winter altitude
gully climbs, this course can be combined
with the 1:1
advanced course. |
 |
The
outline itinerary below is designed to provide
you with a flavour of the course, and the
style in which is is operated. As the course
is run 1:1 with a Guide, if you have some
ideas of what you would like to achieve,
or would like any advice, please contact
us so that we can discuss and suggest options
for you. |
 |
On
demand: if
no scheduled course dates are showing in the
column on the right, we can still operate
a course on demand for just one person booking,
on any dates that suit from January through
until the end of April, arriving Sunday and
departing Saturday. |
 |
Dates: these
are listed in the column on the right, and
they show the live availability from our secure
online booking system. When you book online,
you receive immediate confirmation, your Alpine
Information Booklet, course specific kit list
and invoice. |

days of 1:1 guiding, with each night returning to
comfortable Chamonix centre accommodation. The first

Guide an idea of your level, and some inspiration
for routes for the week. Your routes during the
week will include multi-pitch technical waterfall
ice, usually high grade valley ice (to grade V).
You can also try leading some pitches of the technical
routes, or some dry tooling or mixed routes. Dependent
on conditions and your aspirations, you and the
Guide will choose which routes to attempt to keep
you challenged throughout the week. |
Sat |
Breakfast
then the accommodation check out is by 10:00. Most
arrange their transfers for around this time for
a flight from Geneva about midday. |

adventures are weather and conditions dependant,
so occasionaly we are forced to alter the plans.

A key part
of choosing a company is being able to come and talk about
your plans with an experienced course advisor face to
face. In an increasingly virtual world, we know our clients
value speaking to real people, getting open and honest
advice. The vast majority of our clients are British,
and our office and outdoor store is based in Windermere
in the English Lake District.

Get in
contact to arrange a meeting, and come in for a coffee
to discuss your course in person with a trip advisor.
Many people opt for this service, and it is an integral
part of what we offer, as we are keen to ensure that you
are prepared as possible, and that you select a course
that is suitable for you. It makes it easier and more
enjoyable for you and us, if you are on the right trip. |
